Sgt. Maj. Elena M. Rodriguez

Sergeant Major Elena M. Rodriguez was born in Toppenish, Washington. She attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina on 22 February 2000 and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Private First Class.  After completing recruit training, she reported to Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Geiger, NC. Upon completion of MCT, she attended the Personnel Clerk Course at Camp Johnson, NC from July to August 2000.

From August 2000 to February 2001, she was assigned to Promotion Branch, Headquarters Marine Corps, Quantico, VA for duty as a Board Support Clerk and during this time she was promoted to Lance Corporal. In February 2001 she was transferred to 1st Transportation Support Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, CA where she served as an administrative clerk and was meritoriously promoted to Corporal. During this tour she attended the Corporal's Course and graduated as the platoon honor graduate and class ironman.

In July 2002 Sergeant Major Rodriguez was transferred to Marine Security Guard School (MSG), Quantico, VA. Upon completion of MSG School, she was assigned as a Watchstander to the American Embassy San Jose, Costa Rica as her first post. Sergeant Major Rodriguez was then assigned to the American Consulate in Hong Kong, China as her second post and served as the Assistant Detachment Commander.

In April 2005 Sergeant Major Rodriguez reported to 11th Marines Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, CA. She was assigned as the Personnel Chief at the Regimental Personnel Administration Center. During this tour she attended the Intermediate Personnel Administration Course, Camp Johnson, NC and graduated as one of the Class Honor graduates.

In October 2007 Sergeant Major Rodriguez reported to Drill Instructor School, Parris Island, SC. Upon completion of Drill Instructor School she graduated as the Class Iron Woman, and was assigned to Company N, 4th Recruit Training Battalion where she served as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. During this tour she attended the Martial Arts Instructors Course and graduated as the Class

Honor graduate. She was then assigned to the Recruit Processing Company, Support Battalion where she served as a Processing Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. Sergeant Major Rodriguez was then selected to the Instructor Staff of Drill Instructor School where she served in the billets of Squad Instructor, Marine Corps Common Combat Skills Instructor, and Drill Master.

In June 2011 Sergeant Major Rodriguez reported to Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 364, Marine Aircraft Group 39, Camp Pendleton, CA where she served as the Administrative Chief. During this time she served as the Aviation Combat Element Administrative Chief in support of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. In October 2013 Sergeant Major Rodriguez reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 4, 3d Marine Logistics Group, Okinawa Japan where she served as the Transportation Services Company First Sergeant and the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant. During her tour with Combat Logistics Battalion 4, she supported in the Humanitarian Relief of Operation DAMAYAN, BALIKATAN 15, and BALIKATAN 16.

From September 2016 until January 2018, Sergeant Major Rodriguez reported to 1st Supply Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton, CA where she served as the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant and Supply Company First Sergeant.

In January 2018, Sergeant Major Rodriguez was appointed to her current rank and served as the Sergeant Major for Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 225. She deployed with the Squadron in support of the Unit Deployment Program to the Western Pacific in 2019.

From May 2019 until December 2021, Sergeant Major Rodriguez served as the Sergeant Major for Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 3.In December 2021, Sergeant Major Rodriguez assumed her duties as the Sergeant Major for the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Sergeant Major Rodriguez' personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (gold star in lieu of 4th award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (gold star in lieu of third award).
