Marines with Battalion Landing Team 1/1’s color guard, march off the Colors during a Guadalcanal memorial ceremony off the Island’s coast while aboard USS Green Bay, Sept. 10. Battalion Landing Team 1/1, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s ground combat element, fought on that island during WWII as part of 1st Marine Division’s six month stand against Imperial Japan.
